Daytime Magic at Haue Valley | St. Louis Wedding Photographer

Ellie and Josiah have such a sweet gentleness to them. They are kind, caring, thoughtful, and funny. In fact, they were so thoughtful that they planned a lovely daytime wedding—allowing their guests (and themselves!) to wrap up early and enjoy a restful evening. As I’ve gotten a little older, I can certainly appreciate the value of being in bed by 9:00 PM!

Of course, there is always a case to be made for an evening wedding—mainly that juicy golden hour light. But I fully embraced the mid-day sun and all of its direct overhead brightness! After all, it was a late summer wedding, and they loved the idea of elevated, backyard BBQ vibes. That’s exactly how the day felt, complete with Pappy’s smokehouse catering and a lively cornhole tournament. To me, it was absolute perfection. Oh, and Ellie made the wedding cake! Yes, you read that right: the bride baked her own cake, and it was hands down the best wedding cake I’ve ever had.

I have no doubt this day offered a true glimpse into what their future together will look like: filled with love, delicious homemade food, plenty of fun, and everyone tucked into bed at a reasonable hour.

Here are a few highlights from the day. I adore this couple and their guests—seriously, every single person there was warm, friendly, and so much fun!
