Fall Family

In the past year I keep going back to the same location to shoot. The wide open fields combined with hardly anyone else there provides this sense of freedom to relax, explore, play and be yourself. I feel like focusing more on connections rather than constantly looking for different backgrounds is really getting to the heart of family. And that is what feeds my soul: that spark of laughter and having fun together captured.

I have been photographing this little guy for a few years now. He is always so full of life and fun. I hope he always knows how loved he is and never loses his amazing spirit!

Fun and Free

Having kids close together isn’t easy. I should know, mine are 13 months apart. I really didn’t know how life could seem any harder during the baby and toddler years. I felt like I was always on survival mode, and just really needed someone to throw me a life saver. Now that my kids are beyond the toddler stages, I hold an extreme special place in my heart for other parents who were like we were with toddlers very close in age. However, for this sweet family, they have 3 close in age, and my mind is completely blown! I don’t know how they do it, but however they are doing things, they are doing AMAZING! The boys were so full of life and fun, while the little sister, only 2 months old was the cutest and chillest baby ever. I loved our time together last weekend! Also, bonus that they brought Grandma along! Love when people want to include grandparents in the family photos! :-) Thinking about how cool it would have been if I had cool photos of me with my Grandfather when I was young always makes me excited for other people who think to do things like that.

Beautiful Baby Girl | St. Louis Newborn Photographer

The other week, I got to spend a fun Sunday morning with this family and their new new baby girl! I've been photographing this family since their oldest was 6 months, and feel so honored that I get to visually document the different phases of their life. And by the way, the have the BEST DOG EVER! :-)

Congratulations again Sarah and Peter!

Stubborn Love

After a few months of hibernating and being in a creative rut, my imagination has been reignited. Spending time with other creatives will do that, and I am so thankful for my creative community.

In a photography group I am in, we were challenged to come up with a shoot based on a song. I struggled with this a lot. But, then was hit with loads of ideas while out running the other day. (Another reason I love running....it fuels my creativity) Anyway, Stubborn Love by the Lumineers was the song I chose for this shoot, and I know the song is about a wife or girlfriend who has had an affair, but for whatever reason, I always think about being young and wild and free when I hear this, and I wanted to capture the kids doing just that, innocent, young, free.
